Hi, first of all thank you for translating our plugin into French ??

Are you referring to the following translation are in WordPress?

If your answer is yes to the above question, you will have to contact the French translator editors. We have no control over the translation of our plugin in WordPress. Each translation has their own team of editors. Once the editors have approved the French translation and it represents 95% or more of the strings translated, they will get downloaded automatically to French WordPress sites.

Also, you need to translate the Development (trunk) first. It will then add the translated strings to the Stable (latest release) automatically.

Okay, but in the translation page, “Translation Editors” states that “There are no editors for this specific project, yet. Become an editor.”

Below, there is : “The following users can edit translations for either a parent project or all projects. : Amaury Balmer Bastien Ho Benoit Catherineau Bruno Tritsch Cyrille Sanson Didier Wolforg fxbenard Jb Audras Jenny Dupuy Laurent Naudier nicolasricher Xavier Borderie”

I wasn’t aware, as it’s my first translation attempt… I wonder how I can merge my stable .po and trunk .po with poedit… Do you think this example is a good start ? https://help.wprentals.org/article/how-to-update-the-po-translation-after-a-theme-update

Hi Stef and thank you for your contribution.

Unfortunately, this is how the things work for translations here. After you translated all the strings, you need to wait for someone from translation editors to notice this and accept your translations. After this is done, the translation will be available for plugin users.

Manuel (@mbrsolution) does a great job to handle Spanish translation of the plugin, so I guess he might have some insights how he made people accept his translations ?? , so maybe he can shed some light here.

This is what I have been doing up to now.

I wanted to help out with WordPress Spanish community with plugins translation. I signed up with their support site at wpes.slack.com. That allowed me to submit my translations for the Spanish editors for WordPress to approve. As soon as my strings are approved in WordPress by the editors, it automatically updates all the sites in the world that run WordPress in Spanish. That is how I have been able to keep up to date the Spanish translation for all the plugins I help out with. This is my method and it helps me a lot, perhaps you might find a different method that works best for you.

Don’t worry too much, I was in the same boat as you when I first started translating in WordPress. To tell you the truth I was totally lost ?? But lucky for me the Spanish community helped me out a lot and they keep helping me as we speak.

When you say you want to merge your po files using Poedit, what are your intentions? For example, are you doing this for your site so it is up to date? Or for other option?

Yes sign up with https://wpfr.slack.com/ community. They should be able to assist you.

You should be able to export the Stable (latest release) and import it into the Development (trunk). Give this a try and let me know if it works for you.

The bot refuse to validate the 100% done french translation : Skip fr_FR, translations below threshold (90%). Some people at the validation team told me it could be a tag problem about your next release…

Thanks a lot for your prompt answer @alexanderfoxc We’ll keep in touch. FYI, I’ve planned to also fully translate the readme and maintain the french translation updates. Should be take more time but I’ll do it ??

Hey Stef, I’m happy to inform you that French language package has been successfully generated and is now available for general public. Now if a user has French language set in his WP settings as default, the plugin would be also displayed in French! I just tested it myself by switching my WP’s language from English To French.
