  • I have been in touch with the creator of my theme and he asked to check with you if there is any kind of hook that inserts the poll code automatically in the sidebar, without the widget being live. What’s happening is as soon as I activate the poll it puts in that copy reading “?Polls. Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment. Polls Archive” automatically. Is there a way to stop this from happening in the code?

Nope, the poll can only be added in 2 ways, via widget or PHP Code. It will not auto insert into the sidebar.

Your theme might be using an older way of display WP Widgets? As the widget system did get revamped in 2.8 and wp-polls 2.50 is using the new way.

Also check if you got a plugin called WP-Polls Widget because prior to 2.50, WP-Polls comes with 2 plugins, WP-Polls Plugin and WP-Polls Widget Plugin. In 2.50 onwards, it is all merge into one, just WP-Polls Plugin.

Thanks for your response. I checked and I have wp-polls 2.50, the most recent one where the plug-in and widget are merged. I will get in touch with the theme author and see if he has any other ideas. Thanks again.

Hello I installed the plugin created a poll, put the poll in mysidebar, the poll is showing, however when I tested it, it doesn’t work, IE8 throws a javascript object expected error. I have NextGen Gallery installed, do you think the two plugins isn’t compatible with each other?

NextGen should be compatible with WP-Polls, did you try on the default theme with no other plugins enabled beside WP-Polls and NextGen?
