• This is definitely a bug with WP 2.6.

If you copy and paste text from MS-Word into a post (even if you use the “Paste from Word” feature) your WP 2.6 blog will not display correctly in the Internet Explorer 7 browser. There is html code at the top of the post that is not handled properly.

    NOTES:
1.) If you did copy/paste prior to WP 2.6 everything seemed to work OK for me. The html code was there, but did not cause any problems that I’m aware of.

2.) If you upgrade your WP 2.5 blog to WP 2.6.x the html code at the top of the post still does not cause any problems UNLESS/UNTIL you re-SAVE (edit) that post. Then it will no longer display correctly in Internet Explorer.

    SOLUTION:
Switch to the HTML tab while editing your post and delete all of the code at the top of the post from <!–[if gte mso 9]> down to and including <!–[endif]–>.

This is not a bug with WordPress, you should not copy and paste from Word. Word is what is adding all that extra crap to your pasted content, and that is what causes the post to look wrong in IE7. If you typed it normally, that crap would not be there. This is basically Word’s fault.

On the other hand, Word 2007 has a Publish-To-Blog feature which is indeed capable of working correctly with WordPress. You can post directly from Word to your blog using that, so do it that way instead. You’ll have to enable the Atom Publishing Protocol in the WordPress settings section before it will work, but it does work quite well.
