    Hello community!

I have recently migrated my blog to wordpress and I am in the process of updating all my recipe posts with WP recipe maker so that they all will have recipe rich snippets.

I also would like to use Rate my post plugin to allow people to vote each post/recipe. However I have noticed that when I test the page for rich results, it then appear like I have two recipe rich results instead of only one.

I have read that having two of the same rich results can end up in conflicts and that may be detrimental for google search. Mostly I am worried that the recipe rich result created by wp recipe maker includes all the info about the recipe, while the other one created by rate my post only include the aggregate rating but none of the ingredients/instructions, etc

Is there a way of integrating the aggregate rating generated by rate my post into the recipe rich result generated by wp recipe maker? This way I would have only one recipe rich result which include also the aggregate rating.

    Many thanks for your help!

    Hi there,

You should not use both plugins alongside each other. Rate My Post will indeed add its own metadata, which should not be there.

WP Recipe Maker has its own rating features:
    https://help.bootstrapped.ventures/article/26-comment-ratings
    https://help.bootstrapped.ventures/article/27-user-ratings

You’ll want to use those, as they are integrated with the recipe metadata.

    Kind regards,
    Brecht

    Thank you Brecht.

I tried the wp recipe ratings, but in the free version you are only allowed to have comment ratings, while the nice thing of using rate my post is that people can just click on the stars and the result will appear at the top of the post.

I read that a similar feature is available in wp recipe pro, but as I have just started I’d prefer to stick with the free version until the blog starts having more visits ??

Is it detrimental to have 2 recipe snippets from a SEO point of view or it doesn’t cause any particular harm?

    Many thanks

It’s definitely not good to have the recipe metadata twice. Especially since the one by the Rate my Post plugin will have lots of warnings for missing fields.

Anonymous ratings by just clicking on the stars are being phased out in pretty much all relevant recipe plugins as well, so I don’t recommend doing that. A rating with comment is much more useful and relevant. Both for Google and your visitors.

So I do have to recommend using our ratings feature, and deactivating the Rate my Post plugin.
