    Hello,

This is my first post in the WP forums. I’m a freelance web designer and a colleague of mine just handed off a site to me for content updating. Its a multi site running V3.5.2 and it looks like it had quite a bit of span due to running and older more vulnerable version. I immediately backed up the site and proceeded to update it to V4.0. When I click on the update notice at the top of the dashboard the browser (chrome,ff, ie…) will spend a few seconds loading and then i will get the “redirect loop” error. I also get the same error when trying to update out of date plugins as well. All of the other pages I can load and use, except when it comes to updating the code of WP or plugins.

I have deactivated all plugins, tried removing the htaccess file, looked at the url pointers in the databases. Nothing has fixed it. I have googled and gone through the posts regarding these errors but most were for people not being able to get onto their site or being able to log into the backend. I can do both…

It sounds like quite the mess ?? You did a few things correctly so far: backup database and files, deactivating plugins, updating to the latest version of WP 4.0, disabling your htaccess while you debug, etc.

Since it’s a Multisite, have you tried a fresh htaccess and copied your Network Setup yet?
