• WP has been installed at https://www.rifters.com/crawl/ for years with no issues; last update was a couple of months back, no issues with that either. I’ve made no tweaks or changes to any settings over the past 24 hours.

Six hours ago I was able to log in as “admin” with no difficulty. Now, WP rejects my password (at least, I assume that’s the significance of the log-in screen jiggling laterally for a moment before clearing the password field and leaving me to try again; there is no explicit error message). I have twice reset the password, and the reset appears to have taken judging by the automated emails that result. But whenever I return to admin logon, the problem persists.

I have tried this in Firefox and Chrome. I have rolled my eyes and rebooted my laptop. None of this has helped; I hope you can.

    Tnanks,
    Peter

  • No guarantees, but, after testing login on your site, my guess is that the problem lies with the Login LockDown plugin. Since you cannot login to Admin, you will have to delete or rename the plugin’s subdirectory/folder.

Just to clarify, the shaking is from the plugin, as that is not how WordPress normally acts.

That did it: thank you so much for the help.

Also for the blindingly-fast turnaround time.

My problem is described similarly as the one above, but my blog isn’t using the ‘Login LockDown’ plugin as far I can see.

Everytime I open a browser (Firefox or Chrome) I have to reset my password to login. If I log out and then log in again, without closing the browser, I can still log in without resetting the password. This seems to hold for all the users on this blog.

I have search the forums, removed plugins, reinstalled WordPress and called the hosting company, but nothing has made a difference.

I manage multiple blogs and this is the only one with this problem. It is the one most recently installed, about 3 months ago.

Please advise how this can be fixed.
