    Hello,

As far as I understand, the MariaDB versioning follows that of mySQL. They create MariaDB 5.5 to be compatible with mySQL 5.5, MariaDB 5.8 with mySQL 5.8, and so on.

Why then, are the requirements for WordPress “MySQL version 5.6 or greater OR MariaDB version 10.0 or greater” ?

    Thanks!
