Hi, On trying to create a package I get a system permission failure on public_html/wp-snapshots. I can’t see a file or folder wp-snapshots anywhere in public_html and am unsure what this directory is for. So I thought I’d exclude it via settings – but permissions still fail. (I figure it’s possibly part of Duplicator so probably not a good idea to exclude but hey, I’m just trying to get this to work)

Also I get a fail on Open Base Dir, and am unable to get my host to change this… complicated hosting / sub-hosting arrangement. So… if I can get past the wp-snapshot issue, I’ll still have the Open Base Dir issue – is it worth giving it a go anyways?
    thanks, hoping you can help,
    Cathryn in Darwin.

    Hey Cathryn999,

The wp-snapshots directory is required because this is where the installer and package are created. If any of the checks fail then you will probably have to look at a commercial solution like backup buddy or look at switching to a hosting provider that doesn’t lock you down. Futre version may have support for some of these issues, but right now its a work in progress…

    Hope that helps!

Hey Corey, thanks for getting back to me. So wp-snapshots – should this have been created by Duplicator when I installed the plugin? And is it just an empty directory? (If so I guess I could just create it and give it the right permissions hey?)
    cheers, Cathryn

Yeah its always worth trying it out…

When the plugin is installed and when it tries to create a package it will try to create the wp-snapshots folder. You could try to manually create it and then temporarily try chomd 777 on it, but don’t leave those permissions set. Create it right off the root of your wp install (same directory the wp-config.php is in)…

Ta Corey, I’ll give it a go now and post whether it works. Cheers. ??

Awesome – “creating package now” – I just created an empty wp-snapshots directory as your suggested with 777 permissions, and no more ‘fail’ messages – also seems to have bypassed the Open Base Dir fail message as well. Thanks!

Cool! Be sure you don’t leave your directory as 777 or else you’ll leave an open security hole on your site…

    Cheers!
