I have an odd problem that I cannot find a resolution to. When I use WP Show Posts to present posts on a page, the plugin appears to over-ride my landing page settings and causes that posts page to appear as the home page.

The settings for the home page are to have the landing page activated and the posts page to be “not showing” on the home page. I use the quotes because there are several ways to keep the posts off of the home page, and I have tried every variation that I can think of.

I do not know if this is a problem with the theme conflicting with the plugin, an incorrect setting on my part, or an issue with the plugin.

Any assistance or ideas will be appreciated.

Note that on the site now I have had to de-activate the plugin so as to not have problems.

    Thanks!

    Hi @rogeralb

There are no settings in WPSP that can do this.

WPSP is actually pretty simple. It only displays a stylized WP_Query() loop on where users placed its shortcode. That’s all it does so there’s no way it can change the site’s Blog index page. (Admin > Settings > Reading > Post page)

But perhaps you mean you’re seeing a post listing on your home page?

If that’s the case, can you check the home page’s contents if it has any WPSP shortcodes in it or it’s manually hooked through PHP snippets?

    Hello ejcabquina,

Thank you for your reply. It is very much appreciated. I have checked the home page and there is no evidence of a WPSP shortcode. I do not have the ability to look for PHP snippets as I have not worked with PHP on the nitty-gritty level for a very long time and, to be honest, it is “not my thing”, as they say.

You description of how the plugin works makes sense, and I think it may help with tracking down the problem. I have conferred with the site’s owners and they are satisfied to keep it as it is now, and if I can solve the issue we will re-activate the plugin.

Thanks for your help. I like the plugin and am hoping I can use it on other projects.

    Again, thank you.
