I upgraded to the newest WordPress version, 3.5, and now as long as the SlimStat Dashboard widgets are activated, they’re frozen as well as the other WordPress default widgets. Even my “Screen Options” and “Help” tabs won’t work. I can’t click and drag the widgets around, and I can’t click the top bars of them to expand and collapse them.

I’ve deactivated all my plugins and reactivated them, I’ve tried deactivating both the WP SlimStat and WP SlimStat Dashboard Widget plugins and reactivating them, and even uninstalling and reinstalling them, wiping out the previous statistical data. I don’t know much about code, so most of the other possible solutions I’ve read in the support docs for this plugin go way over my head.

Any idea why this is happening?

Well that is interesting: I deactivated ALL my plugins and activated ONLY the WP SlimStat and SlimStat Dashboard Widget plugins. Same problem! They’re frozen on my dashboard! So it’s obviously not a plugin issue. Hmmm….

Have to ad that I reinstalled WP 3.5 while all plugins where inactive also. Didnt write that as i found a failure on a plugin later.

When I reinstalled WP 3.5 thru dashboard I had WP theme active btw ??

If I did that (deactivate all plugins and reinstall WP), I wouldn’t lose anything, right? Since all the files are still on my hosting company’s database?

How do I reinstall WP? Do I just need to reinstall the latest one? Or a specific version?

Login admin then u find on your dashboard

    Admin/ updates/ reinstall your version

You wont loose any info if u reinstall your version.

Nicole, making a backup of your files and database before reinstalling would be a good idea, though!

Well, I deactivated all the plugins then reinstalled. Then I reactivated all the plugins and the same problem happened. The SlimStat Dashboard Widgets were frozen. I tried deactivating all but the WP SlimStat and WP SlimStat Dashboard Widgets and still same problem.

Should I have tried deactivating all plugins, reinstalling, and THEN only activating the two plugins? Should I try it again, you think?

(Thanks for your help, by the way, Rondena. :))

Contact me with a login and password, and I’ll take a look ??

Be sure to test hoover wp menu and widget setup after activating every plugin.

I think I found the issue in Nicole’s case, it was a very rare bug in the library WP SlimStat uses to display the chart on the dashboard. I sent her the fix, let’s see how it goes.

Actually, Camu fixed it! Turned out it was something about my dashboard widgets being collapsed. He emailed me a new file to replace a file in my server and that did the trick!

Thank you so much, Camu! You are an awesome developer!!!

Cool, glad it worked! Who knows, maybe a donation would be a nice way to say thank you? ?? Or at least your contribution in proof-reading the English wording of my plugin? It’s just an idea, of course…

I had the same problem with the screen options and help tabs not functioning and the widgets frozen. I do not have the Slim stats plug in (though I might want to check it out now). I tried deactivating my plug ins and uninstalling them, but no go. I run several site with the 3.5 wordpress version, but this is the only site with the problem. The only thing I found so far that seems to work is the suggestion earlier in this thread that provided code to revert back to an earlier version of WP. Viola! that did the trick. But I’d like to keep my WP up to date. I hope they can fix this “core” problem soon.
