Unfortunately it doesn’t ?? It doesn’t make sense to me. Let’s try one last thing before rolling back to 2.3: manually download the zip file, uncompress it and FTP all the files to your server, after deleting the existing ones. No need to uninstall wp slimstat, just replace those files. Then deactivate and activate again. It could be that the upgrade didnt complete, so some files are still from 2.3…

Everybody (except yukoner) try deactivating and then activating wp slimstat again. And please start tour own topic, this is starting to become too confusing ??

OK Camu, I manually downloaded the zip file, uncompressed it and FTP’d all the files to my server, after deleting the existing ones. I deactivated and activated both SlimStats and SlimStat Dashboard Widgets.

Unfortunately, no change. Still doesn’t work on a new login unless I deactivate and active each time.

I guess the only way to solve your problem is to call an exorcist, then ?? Jokes aside, you may want to roll back to 2.3, or just don’t use the dashboard widgets anymore. I really don’t know what to say…

PS: what version of PHP and MySQL do you have on your server?

    Thread Starter yukoner

    (@yukoner)

    PHP 5
    MySql 5

    Strangest thing I just noticed.

If I log in to WordPress the dashboard widgets are not there on the WordPress dashboard; I go to SlimStat and all the stats are there, when I go back to the WordPress dashboard, they are showing there as well whereas they weren’t before.

Thanks again both for the great plugin and all your time and effort Camu.

Could you be more specific about those versions? I’m asking because this new version requires at least mysql 5.0.3

    Thanks

Do you mean to tell me that your plugin doesn’t work with caching enabled? Because I haven’t been getting data for days, and I’m starting to get data now, but only some of it.

    (@yukoner)

Mine is logging the data just fine with caching enabled.

    Roseba,

it’s a hit or miss thing. It depends on many factors, but generally speaking the answer is NO, it doesn’t work with caching. Think about it: caching is a way to AVOID PHP scripts from running (faster website), but in order to track a visit, my plugin needs a PHP script to be executed ?? In other words, the two concepts are intrinsically incompatible with each other. I am thinking about developing a new option that will allow my plugin to track visits using javascript (client side tracking). This is much less powerful than the method I’m currently using, but at least will allow people using caching mechanisms to track visitors.

I had caching installed before, and it was working. I actually had to change things around and disable it (caching) because I’m having trouble with Google Analytics. (Don’t know what is causing my GA problems, but it’s been going on for awhile). Anyway, I’m not running caching now, and I’m having trouble with the plugin (since the plugin upgrade). Not sure why. Data is starting to return slowly. Whatever I did, fixed that. GA still isn’t working as it should. It’s recording some hits, but not others. I don’t get that.

    Hi Camu.

When I log it to phpmyadmin it says
Server version: 5.0.91-log (I presume that means version 5.0.9)?
and I am apparently on PHP 5.2.14

Roseba, is your folder wp-content accessible to the public? Is your issue solved?

Yukoner, I really don’t know what else to try, sorry.

No problem Camu. I’m more than content.
I’m signing off this thread now. Have a great day.

Camu – I used to use your plugin for a long time. I haven’t upgraded an even the old version just stopped working. The only thing I upgraded was wordpress. Newstatpress works perfectly but slim-stats just went completely cold on all of my sites, all of which are on the same server. Some have caching, some not. I can’t explain it.
