WP SMTP Error Message: Connects to Server But Fails to Send Email

You might have to use the port 587.

Do you have the settings that are described in those two above links?

You can also download Mozilla Thunderbird email client and try to send emails using that. If you are able to send emails with Thunderbird, you are more easily able to solve the problem in WordPress.

When you get a chance, could you please go to Settings > WP Mail SMTP (in the left WordPress admin menu) and check the Mailer field? If this is set to Default (php), then this means that you haven’t set up SMTP yet. In this case, the next step is to choose a mailer.

Here are tutorial links for each mailer option:

Google/Gmail
SendGrid
Mailgun
Other SMTP

After you choose and set up the mailer, please try sending a test email (under Settings > WPForms > Email Test) and share the details from that here.

Hi,

I ended up setting Mailgun as the mailer option and the emails go through now, thank you for your help! However, I am getting a lot of spam email because of the mailer, is there a way to restrict this?
