WP Super Cache cannot be configured

Hi there, I’m getting two messages: one on the plugin update page for all WP plugins that states:

“WP Super Cache must be configured. Go to the admin page to enable and configure the plugin.”

Clicking over to the plugin admin page, I get this error:

“Error: Your cache directory () did not exist and couldn’t be created by the web server. Check permissions.
Cannot continue… fix previous problems and retry.”

We’ve never had issues with the plugin before. Your insight is appreciated.
