I upgraded Yoast SEO to the last free version as well as WP Super Cache. And after those updates I noticed the XML sitemap page gets broken. When WP Super Cache is deactivated the XML sitemaps are OK. So where is the problem?

I can confirm that on a test fresh installation with the latest WP and with Yoast SEO 5.1 and WP Super Cache 1.5.3 that WP Super Cache BREAKS the sitemap XML function of Yoast SEO. Please investigate!

Tested with an older version of WP Super Cache 1.4.8 and it works fine with Yoast SEO 5.1.

    Hi,

Thanks for the post. We ask that you please add some special rules into your caching plugin. See steps 1-5 here: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/my-sitemap-is-blank-what-s-wrong/

Does adding rules into your WP Super Cache plugin resolve the issue?

Another fresh install on another server with the same problem – WP Super Cache Version 1.5.3 breaks Yoast SEO sitemap XML – tested on 4.4 and 5.1 version.

Tried adding the rules: ([a-z]+)?-?sitemap.xsl but with no luck – the problem persists.

    Maybe you’ll investigate too.

    Bye,

We understand the issue continues to happen. While we are not sure exactly how the testing was performed but it sounds like a plugin or theme conflict. Can you try and gather as much information for us as possible? Please perform the following:

    1. Make sure the issue doesn’t persist when Yoast SEO is disabled.
    2. Check for conflicts.
    3. Check for JavaScript errors with your console.

If you find any JavaScript errors related to Yoast SEO or if there is a conflict with a plugin or a theme, you can create a new GitHub issue for our developers. Please report the issue to a third party developer as well.

If you didn’t find any conflicts or errors, we think the issue is specific to your site. We’d need to investigate further but are unable to do so on these forums. You can purchase Yoast SEO Premium and receive our Premium email support and we can help you further.

Maybe you should try for yourself with a fresh install of WP with only 2 plugins – the ones in this discussion. The only setting in WP is using at Permalinks the Post name setting.

I was just letting you know – that’s it. I am not going to purchase any “premium”.

If you want to investigate fine but I was not convinced by your replies. And you cannot give “standard” answers all the time.

@tonyccc It’s fine if you’re not wanting to purchase the premium license. We want to let you know that this issue typically occurs due to the incorrect settings of the caching plugin. So, please reach out the relevant caching plugin developer to properly configure the caching plugin on your site and which should resolve this issue.

I’m having the same problem as tonyccc using WP Super Cache. The recommended fix (adding the exclusion to the Advanced settings) doesn’t seem to work.
