[Plugin: WP Super Cache] mobile plugins and WordPress Mobile Pack
-
We have finally released version 1.2.1 of WordPress Mobile Pack. Starting from this release integration with WP Super Cache is native and by that I mean that it automatically checks if Super Cache is installed and if so uses the hooks available to determine what cache file should be served. This is all very good, but the admin/user needs to go through a couple of hoops to get things running properly.
I wrote a blog post to describe how to get things to work, Go mobile with WP Super Cache and the Mobile Pack.
I think a minor change should be made in WP Super Cache to make it more intuitive to the admin. First there is an implied assumption that only “Mobile Edition” will work with WP Super Cache since the switch states it will enable compatibility. In any case I need to make the site admin check this box so that the rewrite rules are later enabled and THEN uncheck the box since I do not want to fire the detection rules as defined by Super Cache, but use those of my plugin. I know you are working on new functions/hooks to allow third party plugins to push detection rules and rewrites to super cache, I think the settings page should also be changed.
You probably want to keep that checkbox, but maybe make it more generic and then you should alert the admin that a third party plugin has “suggested” new rewrites and hence they should be added to .htaccess.
What do you think?
