• I set up a client site using this for the sole purpose of making a long manufacturer list look good using multiple (3 or 4) columns that line up nicely, and displayed alphabetically (vertically).

Originally, I sorted a XLS alphabetically and imported it, and I dont need sorting ability for the web visitor.

My client adds and deletes manufacturer names on a regular basis, and I showed her how to add/delete columns and rows.

The question is: As she adds or remove names from the table, how can she re-sort the whole table vertically by all columns so the entire table is alphabetical?

I see the “sort, but it only does 1 column at a time. The problem with that is names may have to change columns.

An example page is https://www.redsshoebarn.com/footwear/kids towards the bottom of the page.

    Thanks

    Merrill

    Anybody?

    Hi,

thanks for your question and the link to the table.

Unfortunately, I don’t really see a possibility to sort a table like that ?? All sorting possibilities that I’m aware of will maintain the columns, but can not sort columns individually.

    Regards,

    Thanks for your reply Tobias.

I’ll let them know they’ll have to manually re-enter and sort the table text.

I don’t use tables often, but for cases like this, it would be nice to let the client make data changes as necessary in a single column CSV, sort it alpha, and import the CSV into an existing multi-row and multi-column table, simply overwriting the old data, without changing any of the options or formatting.

But I’m not a programmer, so it’s probably way more work than it’s worth. -:)

    Thanks again,

    Merrill

    Hi Merrill,

with some work, it likely would be possible to implement something like this, but to be honest, I feel that the use case is rather limited and not many people would ever use it. Additionally, I can foresee that the user interface for this would be kind of ugly, so I don’t see this implemented in the near future.

The manual way is definitely the best work around for now.

    Best wishes,
    Tobias
