    Hi, Tobias,

If you remember, we have corresponded before. I have a large installation, and as a result, I am using both WP-Tables and TablePress as one cannot handle it alone due to memory limits.

I just added two of your extensions,
    TablePress Extension: Automatic URL conversion
    TablePress Extension: DataTables ColumnFilterWidgets

and they are working only for the TablePress Tables, but not the WP-Tables Tables.

A while ago you gave me suggestions on how to make the other extensions I have work on WP-Tables as well (they work on TablePress by default). I went through those again, but am not sure what exactly I need to add/change to accomplish that.

The thread where you advised me on the other extensions to work with both WP-Tables and TablePress is:
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/numeric-sorting-1?replies=29

Again, thanks in advance for your help, and a wonderful plugin.

You can see the two extensions not working on the WP-Tables Table at

    and

You can see the two extensions working on the TablePress Table

Also, you may note that the sorting extension works on both. That is the fix I am looking for, but am not able to discern how to apply your suggestions to other TablePress extensions.

    Best,

    Ganaxi

The missing link of where the two extension are not working, as the table is driven by WP-Tables is

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

I think, with this we have now reached the limit of where TablePress and WP-Table Reloaded can work together.

Unfortunately, I don’t see a way to make the ColumnFilterWidgets Extension work with WP-Table Reloaded. WP-Table Reloaded just doesn’t have all the necessary filter hooks, so that the ColumnFilterWidgets Extensions would have to be rewritten in very large parts ??

For the Automatic URL conversion, there’s a similar problem, but for the basic functionality (of making links clickable), you could use the old WP-Table Reloaded Extension for this: https://tobias.baethge.com/2009/12/extension-1-url-to-link-conversion/

Sorry for not having better news here ??

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hi Tobias,

the links are an easy fix, using even without the extension. I understand then that any more extensions I add to my site will only work with the TablePress Tables.

In that case, is TablePress better equipped to handle a larger data set. I am thinking here not just of eliminating WP-Tables if it is able to, but more so, adding 8x the data the plugin already handles by adding archive quarters.

If it is not able to right now, are there any plans to do so? Or can you think of a similar elegant or slightly-less-than-elegant solution for my archives that will need to handle 8-16x the data that WP-Tables and TablePress are handling together right now?

    Also, in the link,
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/limits-to-tablepress/page/2?replies=54#post-4669360

you say, “I added a code change to TablePress, that results in much less PHP memory being used on the “All Tables”, “Import”, and “Export” screens.
The dev version is available at https://tablepress.org/downloads/tablepress-dev.zip
With that, it should be possible to have much more tables in TablePress, without running into memory limits.”

Is that still the location, or have you rolled it into the current version? Also, how do I change to new version. With the large number of tables I have, I want to absolutely certain that I do it the right way. Can I just delete the plugin? and then add the new one? Will that destroy any extension connections or other modifications I have made, with your help, to make TablePress and WP-Tables work together.

    Hi,

the code that I mention there (in that dev version) is already in the current stable version, TablePress 1.2, which you are already using.

So, unfortunately, there’s likely nothing more that I can do to make TablePress work better for you ??
With such a large amount of tables, you should probably consider a custom mySQL/PHP solution, which would allow not only more flexibility, but also better performance, due to more efficient queries.

    Regards,
    Tobias
