    We are supporting a number of WordPress sites. Each time a WordPress upgrade is released we apply them to each site and run them through a quick QA cycle to ensure there were no repercussions anywhere on the site. With the latest release (4.8.2) just being announced and released a few hours ago, we have not had a chance to book in any resource to apply the upgrade quickly given that there was no advanced notice of when an upgrade would be released.
    I understand there are wider repercussions with releasing the changes of WP upgrades, however just knowing when an upgrade would become available would help with booking the required resources to get upgrades installed quickly.

    Is there any way upgrade dates could be released a couple of days ahead of time to ensure people are prepared and can anticipate a release coming out?

    When it’s major version update such as 4.7 -> 4.8 then yes, that’s always planned and dates are set and published.

    When it’s a minor version release such as 4.8.1 -> 4.8.2 then almost always the answer will be “No”. That’s because the minor version releases are not planned. They’re a response to a need to fix something quickly.

    In the case of 4.8.2 which was a security release, there is not a responsible way to communicate that without risking more sites getting compromised. It’s released when it’s ready.

    Your automatic update to 4.8.2 as locked my out of ijlb.org as it corrupted a PHP file I can not access my site please roll it back or add a PHP fix please
