    Hi,

I am using your fantastic plugin to hide the WP admin Menus for a USER Editor role only…

In says in your instructions for future updates to update the plugin BEFORE any WP updates, but WP updates are automatic and I never know when they update; so is it ok to update the AGCA plugin after any new WP updates and if so will there be any problems in doing so?

I look forward to your reply

Thanks so much and a great plugin!

  • This was occasionally a problem in earlier AGCA versions, but today’s AGCA is much more stable than it was few years ago. It’s perfectly fine to update it after WordPress, and we should probably remove that answer from the docs.

Just make sure to regularly keep everything up to date.

THank you kindly for your prompt reply and clearing that up:

I also have an older version of your Plugin (version 1.4.8.2) on an older WP site (using WP 4.3.3) that I had forgotten to upgrade
(before WP auto updates came in), would you kindly advise (in this case) if I should upgrade YOUR Plugin first (before updating WP) by simply clicking the update button in ADMIN or is there anything else I need to do with this older version? (I mean will this earlier version be a smooth transition?)

OR is it better to leave this one as is without updating your plugin as it works perfectly now?

    Thanks

It’s highly recommended to always have everything up to date. If it’s possible please go ahead and update your WordPress and all plugins and themes. Older versions of WordPress, plugins and themes are main targets of attackers, and leaving them like that is security risk for you.

Upgrading in most cases is quite easy. Just make sure to create backups of your files and database in case that upgrade does not finish correctly. AGCA has some recent security patches that are recommended to use, so we can not recommend anything else but the latest version. If you decide to to that, please upgrade everything.
