• Whenever I try to edit my theme, I get this message: Sorry, can’t edit files with “..” in the name. If you are trying to edit a file in your WordPress home directory, you can just type the name of the file in.

Please help. I don’t know what this means.

    Thanks,
    K

  • Having the same problem! Boooooo

I am also having this problem and i am signed in what can i do

C’mon guys, I’d be glad if anyone can really sort me out because I keep getting this message whenever I try to edit any theme:
Sorry, that file cannot be edited.

Firstly, what version are you using and have to given write permissions to wp-content/themes so that WordPress is able to write to that directory ?

Also please change back to the default theme and disable ALL plugins and see if it works then. If it does, change the theme back and try again. If it is still working, turn on plugin on at a time to see if any are causing the issue.

    Whether the permissions?

The simple solution is to simply disable the plugins that you installed and let WordPress be as basic as it was when you first installed it. I assure you that once you disable the plugins it will work as you want to. I tried it and it worked, I later learnt that the SEO image gallery when you upgrade to the latest version it brings this error. try this and good luck!
