• No matter what I do, on some pages I can’t save anything – codes, checkboxes – nothing is saved after I hit Update. What could be the problem? Please help!

  • Have you tried disabling all plugins? Often badly written plugin can cause issues when saving posts, especially if it adds custom metaboxes.

    Yes, I deactivated all plugins and still can’t change anything..

    Any thoughts?

    And you sure its not the theme? Make sure you have/not have this problem when you removed all plugins and use the twentyeleven for example theme?

    If you’re not alien to the method, you may want to check your site’s error log. Ask your hosting provider where it is and how you may look at it, there should be errors dated to precisely the second you’re hitting the Save/Update buttons.

    They’ll be a start to find what is wrong ??

    Yes that’s exactly what my hosting provider told me, here’s my error log’s last line:

    [27-Jul-2015 07:28:47] WordPress database error Table
    ‘defonten_wpress.other’ doesn’t exist for query SHOW FULL COLUMNS
    FROM other made by do_action(‘wp_ajax_dashboard-widgets’),
    call_user_func_array, wp_ajax_dashboard_widgets,
    wp_dashboard_primary, wp_dashboard_cached_rss_widget,
    call_user_func_array, wp_dashboard_primary_output,
    wp_dashboard_plugins_output, fetch_feed, SimplePie->init,
    WP_Feed_Cache_Transient->save, set_transient, add_option

    Doesn’t tell me much though.. I’m more in a mist than before..

    xavortm:

    I had to request a backup restore from my hosting provider, so now I’m back to my old theme. But then I upgraded my WP to 4.2.3 to see if it’s wp version that causes trouble – but everything’s working fine with an old theme. So obviously the problem was in new theme which I still strive to install :((

    Hmm, something is broken within the wordpress internals or the installation didn’t go well and do the proper database operations.

    I would suggest you go to Admin > Dashboard > Updates
    And from there you click the “Re-install now” button.
    This will NOT generate ANY loss of personal data, be it files, posts, or database things. This will only concern the core elements.
    But, maybe, hopefully, it will provide you once again with a fully functional WordPress.
    I honestly don’t know if it simply overwrites the current files with the files of a genuine vanilla wordpress, or if it also runs “just in case” the database creation operations in case there aren’t the required tables (this is a good question, that.) Either it solves your problem, or it doesn’t solve it, but there are no risks associated to the operation, I say, it’s worth a try ??
