• I have searched for my problem in the forums and haven’t found one exactly the same. Feel free to redirect me if there is a topic out there.

I have had this same exact thing happen to me twice now with two different WP sites. One was a few months ago and one today. Both times it happens the same…

I install with no problem. I play with the site, themes, get it going pretty well, install some plugins, etc. No problems. I populate some pages. I add comments. Everything is fine. I spend about a week adding new content.

A few days later, I go to my site and I get the “wp-admin/install.php” page. I can’t seem to get to any admin pages or anything else. It just keeps redirecting me to the install page.

So, did I log out wrong? Did I get hacked? What the heck may have happened? And more importantly, how do I fix it? I already tried one user’s suggestion to replace the config file. No luck.

HELP! I have such high hopes for WordPress!

  • Wow! WordPress is very amazing community!

I have got the solution now, thanks to Whooami

Below is the fix, just follow the instructions, very simple!

When your website redirects to wp-admin/install.php [FIX] :

    1. Login to phpMyAdmin.
    2. Select the database and click on ‘Structure’ tab.
    3. Right under the list of table there is a “Check All” link. Click on it to select all tables.
    4. From a “With selected:” drop-down menu right next to it, choose “Check table”.

    To Repair:

    1. Login to phpMyAdmin
    2. Choose the affected database. If you only have one database, it should choose it by default so you don’t need to do anything.
    3. In the main panel, you should see a list of your database tables. Check the boxes by the tables that need repair.
    4. At the bottom of the window just below the list of tables, there is a drop down menu. Choose “Repair Table”

i’m trying to get to the bottom of this. the above solution is a quick fix but it won’t repair the root cause.

lenashore, are you also using windows live writer to post? do you have the YARPP plugin installed?
