WP4.5 upgrade mysql_connect() error

    WP 4.5 upgrade is giving error –

    Warning: mysql_connect(): Headers and client library minor version mismatch. Headers:50546 Library:50627 in /home/jobs46bx/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1515

    Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/jobs46bx/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php:1515) in /home/jobs46bx/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 1171

    Unable to get wp-admin page.

    I have tried to FTP the file and remove the last blank line. But the issue seems to be on mysql_connect() line.

  • @rcards, to change WP version I replace all the folders and files in home directory except for wp_config file in home directory and wp_contents folder. Post that login to dashboard to upgrade (or degrade?) your my_sql database version.

    Please take a backup before you start the activity so that you can replace the files if wp version downgrade is not successful.

    @abhay.sonak: you cannot reliably downgrade without also restoring a database backup from the older version.

    @rcards: the simplest thing to do is stay at WP4.5 and fix your theme.

    I use UpdraftPlus for my site backups, including database. Luckily I had a backup saved from before the WordPress 4.5 update was applied to my site. I first had to get my website files back to WordPress 4.4.2

    I downloaded the WordPress 4.4.2 archive from https://www.ads-software.com/download/release-archive/ to my website.

    I was then able to perform a restore of the wp-content folder and database (using UpdraftPlus) that I had saved.

    Everything succeeded and my site is back and operational.
