It was working fine till upgrading to WP 5.5
Is there any way to provide closing for the [wp_cart_button} tag where it could be read and executed within the [caption][/caption] tags? //THANKS

    Hi,

I am not really sure what you mean. Can you provide more information and also an example of what you are trying to achieve. This will help me understand your issue.

    Thank you

Trying to place the Add to cart button within the image [caption][/caption] tag like so:

    [caption id="attachment_975" align="alignnone" width="135"]CCARB CARB TECH KIT <span style=”color: #00ff00;”>CCARB</span> $15.00 ( .615/.608, .751/.751, .488/.478, .036,.042,.066,R305 and holders )<br>[wp_cart_button name=”CCARB Carb Tech Kit” price=”15.00″][/caption]

It worked until the update to WP 5.5 when the [wp_cart_button name=”CCARB Carb Tech Kit” price=”195.00″] stopped rendering as a button and is just shown as a plain text within the [caption][/caption] tags.

    Hi,

So the shortcode works but it does not work when you add the shortcode in between the following [caption][/caption] tags. Is this correct? If that is the case, how are you adding these [caption][/caption] tags? Are they tags from a plugin?

    Regards

This is correct – add the shortcode in between the [caption][/caption] tags to appear within the image caption under the image. No other plugin involved These [caption][/caption] tags are regular WP tags for image caption. Again, this way has been working for years until WP 5.5 update. Could be a Gutenberg related issue. I tried to modify gallery-wp-cart.php to fix it, but no luck. Thanks for your help!

    Hi,

Instead of using Gutenberg, have you tried Classic Editor?

I did revert to Classic but it did not work either
Does Gutenberg auto-insert the caption tags?
The solution is in changing gallery-wp-cart.php somewhat
I believe WP assumes there is no other tags to read within the caption tag so it never renders them just echo…
This guy claims to have a solution but it did not work for me either

If anyone has this problem in the future, I was able to fix with a small plugin called Outerbridge Nested Shortcodes here https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/nested-shortcodes/ Works with 5.5.1 (tested). Apparently, they way it was set before was using the Shortcodes Ultimate, which bugged after the last update!
