    Hi,

Recently, on one of my WordPress sites that uses Autoptimize, a folder called “WP_CONTENT_DIR” was uploaded (not by us). This folder was locked by our security plugin—normal behavior when files/folders are uploaded.

When I looked at the folder, it contained some Autoptimize files. I’ve never seen an instant on our sites (we have over 40 WordPress sites) where a folder would be uploaded in this way. Can you tell me anything about this?

I’ve uploaded a zipped copy of the folder here for you to look at.

Thank you! I want to make sure nothing malicious happened that I should take immediate action for (such as changing my site’s passwords, etc.).

the folder contents looks like normal Autoptimize cache to me, but autoptimize saves it’s own cache to /wp-content/cache/autoptimize. the only reason why it would try to save to another location would be if one tells it to by setting different constants in wp-config.php as explained in this FAQ-entry? maybe something like that happened?

Thank you. Interesting. We don’t have anything changed in our wp-config.php so not sure what happened there. Will keep an eye on it.

Given there were almost no files in it, this might have been the result of an experiment in wp-config.php that has since been removed (because indeed it wasn’t working)?

I’m closing the topic as no immediate action, but don’t hesitate to follow up though if you still have questions/ remarks concerning this!
