• Hi All,

I would find an exclude category parameter on the wp_get_archive and wp_get_calendar functions really useful.

With a bit of template fiddling this will allow you to have different category’s that behave as independant site sections.

This can be very useful on large blog or content sites with different distinct areas, being managed from one admin area.

    Ian.

  • I would also find this extremely useful. This plugin add the functionality, but it would make sense to add this to the core I think. We’ve got a couple of categories listed on a page, which can share an archive, but we have one category with very different posts and don’t want these mixed together.

Well, what do you know, after spending a couple hours over a few days looking for a fix for this, I came across one after just posting this.

There is a post in the forums where they describe how to create a function with which you can exclude one or more categories from the general wp_get_archives. It’ll set the behaviour for every time it’s called rather than being customisable each time, but that’s not an issue for our site luckily.
