• My wp_options table in my database has always overhead.

I even have sites that have virtually no content or anything and they are also always showing overhead.

I run the Optimize and Repar functions (I also have some optimization and clean-up plug-ins), but shortly after it shows overhead again.

Can this cause my website to be slow?

    How can this be fixed?

How much “overhead”? No, it’s not why your website may be slow. Overhead refers to space in the table that could be recovered with an optimization.

Have you looked at your site via tools.pingdom.com?

    Thank you for clarifying.

What’s interesting is that my site seems to be extremely slow sometimes. On my previous host, I often got an Error establishing database connection. Now, once in a while, I get an Error 500, even though I made a fresh WP install and everything.

I noticed that after I “Optimize” and “Repair” the DB, the site works better, so I thought this could be it.

I analyzed my site with a bunch of tools, from gtmetrix and the tools offered by Google to the one you suggested.

I noticed it says I should optimize Javascript and images.

Just out of curiosity, I analyzed a bunch of other similar websites and, while they do load faster than mine and seem to have more issues, they got lower scores.

What can then cause my website to be so slow?

I get always told to use smaller images and to install cache, etc. I’ve done all that. I noticed other sites that have more and bigger pictures and more Javascript, no caching, etc. work better.

    Do you have any input?
    Thank you!

If you’re on shared hosting, your speed is also affected by the configuration, load, and traffice of every other website on the same machine.

Where are you hosting? Have you complained to them about site spped? (They’ll say it’s not their fault, but sometimes, mysteriously it seems, things may get better after you call.)

    Hmm..that sounds interesting.

The website is hosted on HostGator.

What do you mean by How much “overhead”?

What is normal and how can you tell how much it is?

    Thank you!
