• Good morning,

Since a few years, I have a difficulty with Wordfence (which works perfectly besides of that): it makes the database full and stuck every two weeks. The problem seems to be on the wp_wffilemods and wp_wfknownfilelist (and maybe others I didn’t identified), which I have to empty each time my host (OVH, in France) send me a “full database” notice.

I read several things about them not emptying automatically, problems which seems to imply a “cron job” issue, but being newbie to web coding I’m a stuck understanding how to solve it (and am afraid breaking something), or even to know it’s indeed related to that.

    I’m on Windows 10, i use WordPress 6.2.3.

    Have a nice day! Tom.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi @tb54, thanks for getting in touch.

Whilst we can’t directly support issues when Wordfence is running on local environments, or Windows servers. I can help point you in the right direction with these tables.

Check the permissions in your Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics page under “MySQL” which might point to Wordfence having issues running commands during scans or after your Live Traffic’s “Amount of Live Traffic data to store (number of rows)” has been reached.

You can safely clear tables like wfknownfilelist and wffilemods as these should be truncated anyway by default whenever a scan starts.

There’s no set amount of database resources we know Wordfence will use as every use-case is different in terms of users, site pages, installed plugins, etc.

    Thanks,
    Peter.

    Hello, thanks for helping!

The SQL Diagnostics page is all ok, as long as the SQL database is not full anymore:

The “Amount of Live Traffic data to store (number of rows)” is set on 50.

I’m not sure (english not being my native language) to understand your first remark, but the website is not hosted locally on my computer, it’s on a web hosting company.

Hi @tb54 thanks for your reply.

Sorry if there was any misunderstanding. As you said you were on Windows 10, I just covered both possibilities of it being a local development installation or a Windows environment at your host. If neither is applicable and it’s just the platform you were using your site from, there’s no need to take notice of that.

    Thanks,
    Peter.

    Hello,

Is there anything doable to help wordfence empty those tables by itself? Rather than it getting full each week and needing a manuel action in phpmyadmin.

    Have a good day,

    Tom
