• I cannot log into my site even though I set a wp log-in user and password. I’ve tried changing it manually and I’m afraid that I’ve botched everything. What do I do now? I am a consumer user, not a professional. Thank you.

This article lists several completely different ways to reset your password. Any one of them will work and do the job. Find the one that’s right for you and use that: https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/resetting-your-password/

Look at the phpmyadmin method — use that to modify your password directly in the database.

I appreciate your post. I had already tried several of these, bearing in mind that I’m not a coder, just a user of WP. None of these methods work, I’m sure because I’ve made some error. Is there a way to uninstall WP from the site and start over from scratch?

Simply delete all files belonging to WordPress via FTP and the database using the tool provided by your host. You can then reinstall WordPress.

Okay. I just emailed my webhost to see if they can help and I would be willing to bet they can do that for me. I feel like a total Luddite which, of course, I more or less am.

I will update you and close when it’s fixed!

    Thank you.
