  • I’m having the same issue, since updating to 4.4.x

I have a weekly backup scheduled, which was working fine, but the plugin reports that it’s “been a long time” since the last backup and now it incessantly updates files (which has led to a warning from my hosting provider about wp-cron CPU loads).

This has been happening to me aswell.

All I know for certain is that if your server runs PHP 7 this could be the cause.

Would be nice if a moderator could respond though.

yeah, I agree, there have been already other posts on the same issue but no words, as far as I know, from WPB2D people…

Ah, now some puzzling behavior in my DropBox account makes sense. I was also receiving a constant flow of notifications that various image files had been updated from DropBox. While this plugin reports on my site that it is following my schedule I set for it, and has been successful, I have not actually checked my DropBox to make sure. The behavior your describe would explain what I’m experiencing, and it is not just lately but for quite a while now. I ended up disabling notifications from DropBox as they were driving me crazy. If, indeed, this plugin is doing this on my site I will deactivate it and continue to use BackUpWordPress, which I see is working fine. Only disadvantage is that I would have to manually copy my backup zip to DropBox; not a big deal.

UPDATE just now. I checked my Dropbox and this plugin has not been creating accurate backups, so it must be continuously trying, and that is why I’m getting all those image downloads. Another red flag is that all the links on the info page you get when you click View Details on the Plugins page on your site, you see that most links don’t work and the author’s account has been suspended.

So I will uninstall this and use my other backup. Then can reactivate my DropBox notifications. Whew!

OK, i am finished with this plugin
First I had to return to PHP 5.6 to make it work
Now backing up starts over en over again, endlessly
    And no reliable backups
And most of all: zero support

    Anyone knows a good alternative?

I’m having the same problem as well on my site and several of my client’s sites. When I check the monitor it says “There has been no backup activity for a long time. Attempting to resume the backup.” I manually stop the backup and restart it, but I keep getting that error.

    Someone please help!

I think the “help” is to not use this plugin. It is not reliable and therefore not a good solution. BackupWordPress takes a small bit of work in that you have to intentionally download backups to keep a copy on a different server, but it works.

Same problem here which led to a complete disappearance of my site. Was told to restore whole site from the back up which lost all trace of posts and media. I now have only the theme, still perfectly customized, and nothing else.
