• Hi,

I told my fiancee that I would make a wedding website and now I regret that decision. I’m well over the average computer user but I can’t seem to figure this out. I registered a wordpress.com account (i know, mistake) and paid for a mysite.com domain. Then I learned that I should use a separate hosting site and use www.ads-software.com. I paid for hosting at HostGator and used the quick install. Everything seems to be in place, but when i use the link from HostGator and type in mysite.com/wp-admin i get redirected to mysite.wordpress.com/wp-admin NOT to the www.ads-software.com login.

I tried this yesterday and i have changed my DNS server (read that it might help). I thought I could just delete wordpress site, but it says that since I’ve paid for a domain upgrade i can’t delete the site.

    Please help
Best regards, frustrated man with angry fiancee

  • Hi,

    Check this
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/move-domain/
Keep in mind, that if you did these changes, sometimes it can take 24 hours, or rarely even more while these DNS records are overwritten everywhere.

There are two option to move your domain – you will change just DNS records (A, CANME, MX …) that will point to your new hosting or changing completely NS servers which will hold these DNS records.
