    Hi,

We have had both the SiteGround Security and wpDiscuz plugins for a while now and there have never been issues until recently.

Now, no one can post a comment on any of our pages until I deactivate the SG Security plugin.

The wpdiscuz-ajax.php file is blocked somehow by the security plugin.

I have the SG Security plugin disabled but the console showed the following error when submitting a comment – https://prnt.sc/SuOALdzuovKQ

I have no idea what setting could be causing the issue. The only features I have enabled are the following:

    • Disable Themes & Plugins Editor
    • Hide WordPress Version
    • Lock and Protect System Folders

How can we get them to coexist once again?

    Thanks and regards,
    Tug

    Hello @tips4gamers,

I was able to recreate the issue you reported on your site but not a default WordPress. I resolved it on your site by disabling the ‘Lock and Protect System Folders’ option in the Site security section.

I also notified our developer so they can check it and eventually address it in one of the following updates of the plugin.

    I saw that, thank you.

That’s strange it only pertains to our setup. They worked perfectly fine together for a few months and then something broke.

    Thank you for the help!

    Hi @pdosev,

I am just checking in to see what the status is of this issue.

    Thanks!

    Hello @tips4gamers,

Our developers investigated the issue and found what is causing the issue. The problem is due to the configuration of wpDiscuz and more specifically when the “Use WordPress native AJAX functions setting” is disabled from their settings.

This causes a conflict with the “Lock and Protect System Folder” functionality of SiteGround Security. This function protects your folders from unauthorized PHP requests and it detects the request towards wpdiscuz-ajax.php as such.

The solution is to either enable WP native AJAX functions under wpDiscuz if you would like to the Lock and Protect System Folder option.

I advise you to consult with your developer before conducting this change.

    Best regards,
    Georgi Ganchev
