• Version 7.0.0 is incredible. I had a few feature requests and suggestions that I never posted here, and 7.0.0 has all of them already included! This might be one of the best and most well-thought out plugin revamps I’ve ever seen. On a site that has been using wpDiscuz for a long time, there were no issues updating and nothing was broken after moving to the new version. It is cleaner, seems faster, and overall just better. The wizard and documentation was all very helpful. Thank you for your hard work and for making this awesome comment plugin even better than it already was!

    Few notes:

    • wpDiscuz user error notices stick to the top right corner by default (for example when a user tries to vote for their own comment). It’s not always obvious. Would you consider having this notice hover over the comment list where the users eyes are already focused?
    • Can you include an option in settings to hide pingbacks from the comment list? It looks like there is code that can be added to class.WpdiscuzWalker.php this would be very nice to have included in the settings. Not to disable pingbacks in WP, just to hide them from showing up in the comment list. Another great option would be to separate pingbacks and put them below the comment list. (Also, are pingbacks supposed to link to the actual pingback post? They have the title of the site that’s doing the pinging, but no link to that site.)
    • Adding to the idea of separating pingbacks in a section at the bottom of the comment list, an idea for an addon would be something that pulls shares from social sites. For example, if someone tweeted the URL, it could list that in comment/pingback style with a link to it. Header could be Mentions or Shares.
    • (Off topic) The wpDiscuz Widget addon could use some revamping. One frustration is that the styling is not consistent through all of the tabs. Also it would be nice to be able to adjust and exclude some elements such as date stamp, etc.

    Thank you @codings,
    Please find my answers below.

    The errors are different, some are related to comment form, some are related to comment threads and some of them to general actions (out of comment area). If we move the error box to the comment form you’ll not see errors in case you’ve scrolled down and liked some comment and in other actions too. There is no a stable location in comment section that fits all kind of error notices and can be visible. We’ve already spent lots of time to find a good alternative and universal place. The current location does its job very well for all kind of errors and for any locations of scrolling bar, it works well even if it’s a bit far from the comment section. It’s very hard to miss the red top right pop-up message.

    We’re not planning to add any filter for pingbacks, but the idea to add an option to hide them without disabling pingbacks is good. We may add it in our to-do list.

    Thank you for the suggestion, but I don’t think we’ll be able to find time for such changes this year.

    Please provide more information what exactly is not consistent through all of the tabs. And yes, we’re constantly improving all wpDiscuz addons. The Widgets addon will be updated too.

    Thank you for taking the time to read and respond. wpDiscuz is already excellent with these things, just ideas to consider when you have more time to explore features later.

    For the error messages, did you try it with themes with a sticky header? It gets covered partially buy such layouts using position: sticky;

    You have already put a lot of time into finding a suitable place for the error popup, but please check out Twitter when you have a chance: When sending a Tweet on desktop they have a small popup at the center bottom which is much easier to see and would work well in all of the scenarios you mentioned, including mobile.
