Using WPDM 3.0.92 with WP 5.3.2
wp-content/uploads/wpdm-cache/ folder has multiple files with names such as:
    session-65739decb96bb11e52873a5f487ad52d.txt
    Sometimes multiple files per day.
WordFence is flagging as “appears to be malicious”.
One of our sites has nearly 140 over the last year.
    Another has 1770.

    Questions:
    1. Is this expected behavior?
    2. Can I remove them?
    3. Why so many per day when we’re not accessing those downloads?

    Thanks,
    Carol

    Hi Carol,

These are session file to track user session. You can delete those from Downloads > Settings > Privacy Tab.

Soon we will add an option for the automatic removal of expired sessions files.

    Best regards.

    Thank you!

“Soon we will add an option for the automatic removal of expired sessions files”
    When exactly ?

You know how many session files I have in my wpdm-cache folder?

    147.000!

Can I delete them manually before I upload my backup files to new hosting server?

Can you elaborate on the purpose of these files? Your response above says they are there to track user sessions. Are these created when someone downloads a file?

    Thanks!

    Oh no @carolkn
If delete from Privacy Tab, your site will be down.

So you can go to your cPanel account
    public_html/wp-content/uploads
    and manually remove wpdm-cache folder.

I hope it will be a removal without any problems.

    Best of luck.

I am migrating my site and I have noticed this folder with almost 10k of files … Hasn’t the option to have files automatically deleted yet been added?

You can clear cache from privacy settings:
