    A programmer, I am NOT. Tried using WPForms Lite I believe, but am unsure how to differentiate between that and the WPForms contact form, if there is a difference. The video from their page seemed quite helpful – on the other hand – tried adding and removing the form several times, it never worked properly. Is this actually free, or do you have to submit a credit card to use it, then pay later? I was getting errors in regards to an invalid API key, and never received any emails. Entered the administrator’s email address and a gmail address on the form, as per the video from WPForms instructed. Installed the WP Mail SMTP plug in also. I’ve also tried using Jetpack and Contact Form 7, have yet to find one that works just to respond to email from our page. Just need a simple contact form for potential customers; we are a mom & pop company and don’t require anything to send/receive 50,000 emails. Funny, our old service provider included a free email plugin that worked after 2 minutes of entry/installation, no programming or coding, never had this problem.

  • Hello @rdhceo,

    I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues with email delivery. You don’t need to pay anything to use the free version of WPForms.

    To troubleshoot the issue, you can check that your form notification settings are configured correctly by following our tutorial.

    If your notification settings are correct, the issue is likely because the emails sent from WordPress are not authenticated (unlike emails sent from dedicated email service providers). As a result, they are likely to be filtered by the receiving mail server.

    To resolve email delivery issues like this, you can configure a SMTP plugin on your site so that emails are sent as authenticated. We have an article with a list of recommended SMTP options and links to their setup tutorials.

    I hope this helps ??

    Thank you for the response. Just arrived home and will try those solutions in about an hour. I do have the WP Mail SMTP installed and activated, but do not know if it is set up correctly. I will follow the links in your message in around an hour and post the results.

    Hello,

    Tried to delete the contact form and build a new one via the information listed there. The WP Mail SMTP and WPForms Lite are both installed and activated.
    Still am not receiving emails. Someone from SMTP emailed me to let me know that my application process was incomplete, and said that they had emailed me in
    that regard, have not received that message. Unsure as to how to proceed with that process. The information on the WPForms.com page on the link provided
    in your response states that the SMTP plug in has: “Cost: Free for 30 days (up to 50,000 emails). However, after your trial period ends, they do require a paid
    account you can check out SMTP.com’s pricing page for all plan options.” I am not very computer knowledgable, and the more I work on this – the more confused that
    I get. Is there someone that can point me towards a working, free email contact form for our page?

    Hello,
    My page has been restored.? I tried using your supplied information to set up the SMTP plugin.? I would like to use 2 email addresses, one for Gmail, one for AOL as the addresses that receive information from the contact page. The supplied link did not include a method of inserting the email addresses into the plug in.? When following the instructions, it led me to the OAth consent screen. The page had 2 options – INTERNAL and the one listed as EXTERNAL reads “Available to any test user with a Google Account. Your app will start in testing mode and will only be available to users you add to the list of test users. Once your app is ready to push to production, you may need to verify your app.” ? I attempted to setup a G Suite account with Google – but this lead me to a page where Google was asking us to pay $9.99 per month – this is not acceptable for us.? We had another site provider before, used GMAIL, and never paid monthly fees, and never had a problem. If this product can be set up without a paid GMAIL account, please let me know. Unsure as to how to proceed any further with this.

    Hello @rdhceo,

    Thanks for sharing the details!

    In case it helps to avoid any confusion, you don’t necessarily have to pay in order to set up a free Gmail mailer. When you have some time, please take a look at the screencast video that I’ve recorded to set up and configure the Gmail mailer in WP Mail SMTP.

    Thanks, and please let me know how it goes!

    I tried to follow this video to set up my gmail account. Is this video from an older version of Gmail? The beginning steps of the process went fine. When I got to the 3:51 time in the video there was an error. Which I typed below. There was not an “ADVANCED” link on the Gmail sign in page, only a “LEARN MORE” link which lead me to a page with many options for my account. I could not locate a link anywhere that led to me to the message “wpmailsmtp.com wants to access your google account.” Searched around on the “learn more” page in my Gmail account and could not find a way to resolve this. No idea how to proceed at this point. Please advise.

    I now alo find this error on my email test page after trying to send an email in the current state:

    Mailer: Gmail
        {
          "error": {
            "code": 401,
            "message": "Request is missing required authentication credential. Expected OAuth 2 access token, login cookie or other valid authentication credential. See https://developers.google.com/identity/sign-in/web/devconsole-project.",
            "errors": [
              {
                "message": "Login Required.",
                "domain": "global",
                "reason": "required",
                "location": "Authorization",
                "locationType": "header"
              }
            ],
            "status": "UNAUTHENTICATED"
          }
        }

    Consider running an email test after fixing it.

    Hello @rdhceo,

    Thanks for reaching out!

    Based upon the error message that you’re receiving, it looks like you’ll need to re-connect the WP Mail SMTP plugin to your Google Mailer account, as the currently used credentials are being rejected.

    Could you please go through the set up process for WP Mail SMTP with Gmail mailer again and let me know how it goes?

    Thanks!

    Hello,

    Been exceptionally busy. Tried running through the same tutorial again. I am getting the same error involving Google, not my web page or the plug in. Is this information dated? Just wondering why my results do not look anything like the results in the tutorial. Please advise.

    Hi @rdhceo,

    Thanks for the updates!

    It seems that Google has recently updated their interface, and we are working to update our documentation to reflect the changes. We apologize for the trouble with that!

    When you get the chance, could you create a post in the WP Mail SMTP support forum with details from your latest testing, and perhaps screenshots, so our team over at WP Mail SMTP can provide further assistance for you?

    Thanks!
