I use G Suite for my WordPress/StudioPress Wellness Pro Theme blog’s default email. It
(G Suite) is sending and receiving emails as would be expected.

I set up WP Forms for my blog’s “Contact Us” page. When I fill out the form and click “Submit” I get the expected automated response. However, no email arrives in my inbox. It is not in the Spam folder either.

I have installed the WP Mail SMTP plugin and completed the detailed instructions for “How to Securely Send WordPress Emails Using Gmail SMTP with WP Mail SMTP”

Under >settings>WP Mail SMTP>Email Test, I fill in the recipient email address and click send Email. It says the email was sent successfully, and I do indeed receive the email at the location where I sent it.

However, when filling out the WP Form on the Contact Us page I am still receiving nothing in my inbox.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hello, I am very new to wordpress and certainly still learning the ropes so sorry for any silly questions! I have (or thought I had) installed a ‘contact me’ form into my page however, when I test this, I never get any email to my registered address and I am not sure why! I have read some posts about SMTP but unsure if this this help me issue.

    Thanks,

    Rebecca

    Hi,
I upgraded to get the latest version of wpforms plugin for my website and now I’m not receiving any of the emails.

I believe my notification settings are correct. I did not change any settings, I just upgraded the WPForms plugin to the latest version.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,

    Hi @compsol99,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues with email delivery.

If your notification settings are correct, the issue is likely because the emails sent from WordPress are not authenticated (unlike emails sent from dedicated email service providers). As a result, they are likely to be filtered by the receiving mail server.

To resolve email delivery issues like this, you can configure a SMTP plugin on your site so that emails are sent as authenticated. We have an article with a list of recommended SMTP options and links to their setup tutorials.

    I hope this helps ??

I had this problem and spent two days working on it by myself, with Godaddy and Zoho email. It started magically working perfectly after I went to my Cpanel, then email routing, and changed the setting to “Remote Mail Exchanger” for my websites. Good luck.

For me, notifications stopped being received after updating the plugin to v1.6.6.
I rolled back to v1.6.5 and they came through again.

    Hello,
I have set up the email SMTP with Other SMTP and provided my hostings SMTP setting, the email test works fine but still my form doesn’t send any emails !
I have checked the Notification and it is {admin_email} which is also correct.
    please advise

    Hi,

My WP Lite contact form is not sending. I have configured everything I possibly can and done 5 tests. I get the message that it was sent on the website, but the email never comes through. I have checked spam, ect. I don’t want to set up SMTP unless I absolutely have to. All I need is the simple contact form to forward to our Google Suite business email.

Any suggestions. I have done a lot of the things already listed in the forums on this same issue, but mine doesn’t involve any mail integrations.

form is on contact page of https://www.skinoxfordms.com

    Hi @mrkeivan, @zergatul, @tnowlin,

We’re sorry for the trouble with that!

As this is a resolved or closed thread, could you create a new post in our WPForms Lite support forum when you get the chance? That way we can keep track of your support requests and address the issues specific to your site in individual threads.

    Thanks!

Since the answer to everyone’s issue appears to be “Install our SMTP plugin as well” then doesn’t that technically mean that the WP Forms in and of itself is deficient?

I’ve got the lite version installed, made a simple form, have quadruple checked all the settings and ZERO notification emails are delivered. But when I installed Contact Form 7, the notification email immediately arrived.

There’s also a ‘support form’ in the dashboard from a custom plugin we use on all our client sites and that also sends perfectly fine.

If WP Forms tends to ONLY work with another plugin, then perhaps include that plugin and also perhaps specify to users that “Hey, this isn’t going to work properly if you don’t set up SMTP as well.”

I just don’t think that this is how things are supposed to work.

    Hey @tonydjukic,

Thanks for the feedback, and I’m sorry for the frustration!

I’ve also replied to your review with more details. But in case it helps, I’ve included a quick summary here:

Email delivery issue affects WordPress notifications in general (not only notifications from WPForms). This is because emails sent from WordPress are not authenticated (unlike emails sent directly from dedicated email service providers). As a result, they are likely to be filtered by the receiving mail server.

Different ISPs and email service providers use different factors as metrics to filter spam or block emails. So you might find that some form plugin notifications are received, while others are not. For other users, the opposite might be true.

The best solution to ensure email delivery is to use an SMTP plugin that authenticates notifications sent from your site – it’ll be like you’re logging into your account to send an email.

    Hope this helps clarify!
