WPML and CSV import of events

    Hi Tribeists!
    I would like to go multi language with my site and after some research I have seen that the events calendar only suports the WPML plugin for multilang. Since I import most of my events with the CSV import, I was wondering how this works together with WPML. I haven’t found any information about this concrete feature with WPML and would be very gratefull if you could point me to articles or explain how this works.

    I would love to help you with this topic.

    First off, this is a great question!
    You are right, there is not a ton of documentation on that specific topic.

    I am pretty sure you are already familiar with the following 2 articles:

    In the context of using CSV imports with WPML, what will happen is that the imported events will be assigned the language you are operating under in the Dashboard as you are running the import.

    For example, if I select “French” in the admin bar while being in WordPress’ backend and then run the CSV import, all imported events will get assigned to French

    So in short, you can still use the CSV import with WPML. But, for now, the caveats are that:

    a) You will need to run the import for each language separately

    b) You will need to manually assign each of these events in different languages to their translate counterparts.

    Hi Geoff, thanks for your answer. What you describe sounds kind of like a workaround with the manual assign :-(.
    By any chance, do you guys have plans for working on this in the future?

    Hey there!

    We are indeed working to expand our multilingual support in WPML but it’s worth noting that the answer Geoff B. provided above is correct as far as how much we are able to integrate The Events Calendar with WPML at the moment. Definitely not a lack of trying, but there are going to have be some changes made to WPML as well in order to build full integration and we’re in continuing chats with the WPML team to work on that together.
