    Dear Sirs,

    i am using your plugin together with WPML. Somehow when WPML is activated i cannot select the conditions where to display a sidebar. The boxes with options (e.d. where to select different pages, posts, categories etc) won’t open.

    Are you aware of this problem? It is a conflict between WPML and this plugin… it only occurs when WPML is activated.

    Hopefully you have a solution.

    Best regarrds,
    Herre

    Thanks for your feedback.

    What version of WPML and which WPML modules do you have?

    That the boxes with options cannot be opened sounds like a javascript conflict. To figure out if it is and what the conflict might be, go to the sidebar editor and open a JavaScript console in your browser (for Chrome: CTRL SHIFT J, for Firefox: CTRL SHIFT K, for Internet Explorer 11: F12) and refresh the page. If there are any JS errors, they will be shown in the console.

    I can, however, not reproduce the error with WPML version 3.0.1.

    Hi Joachim, thank you for your reply.

    I am using WPML version 3.02.-a and also tried beta 3.1.4-b2 … bot give the same problems. Also notified the people at WPML.

    The error i do see in Chrome what looks to be related to WPML is the following:
    Uncaught TypeError: Object [object Object] has no method ‘dialog’ post-edit.js?ver=3.1.4-b2:104

    This script can be found in the res/js/ folder of WPML.

    I guess i will have to reverse my WPML to version 3.0.1. to being able to work with this combination at this moment.

    Best regards,
    Herre

    Unfortunately I still cannot reproduce the error with version 3.02-a. Do you use any of the other modules available at WPML? Such as WPML String Translation?

    Hi Joachim,

    first of all… thank you for your great support!

    I have loaded the following modules:
    – WPML Multilingual CMS (the 3.1.4-b2 version, will set it back to check if the error is gone)
    0 WPML String translation 2.0.2
    WPML Media 2.1.1

    Strange you cant reproduce… even when i have disabled all plugins except WPML Multi CMS and Content Aware Sidebars, the problem occurs.

    At WPML they are also aware / where aware of the problem, so i guess i’m not the only one.

    I am loading jQuery 1.11.0 in my theme… could that be a problem… I also reversed it to jQuery 1.8.3 … but still the same problem… set it back to 1.11.0 again…

    I am going to set back my WPML Mult CMS one or two versions to see what happens… just to find out if it is something between the plugins or also the theme has effect.

    Dear Joachim,

    Looks like it is working again… Only don’t know exactly how and why…

    Here my steps…

    i deactivated all plugins except the Content Aware plugin
    Renamed the beta version of WPML (i received it from WPML regarding this problem to check if it would solve the issue)

    Installed an old version of WPML (2.9.3) and activated –> result: everything worked
    deactivated and renamed 2.9.3
    installed and activated WPML 3.0.2a –> result: everything worked
    deactivated and renamed WPML 3.0.2a
    Installed WPML 3.1.4b2 again and activated –> reuslt: error… not working wit CASidebar

    Removed all WPML CMS versions and installed the most recent stable version again: 3.0.2a –> everything worked!

    So tried to activate all plugins at the same time which gave a blank screen….

    deactivated all plugins by editing the database field active_plugins

    activated 3 -5 plugins at the same time… everything went okay until WPML String Translation, while trying to activate this plugin i got a blank screen again.

    Again deactivated all plugins in the database.

    deleted and reinstalled the current version of WPML String Translation 2.0.1 and started re-activating all other plugins again.

    –> Result: Everything works!!!!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I have tried the beta version again, but this still gives the problem… so i will communicate this with WPML also again… letting them know the beta version is not working.
    It seems to be the combination of a corrupted String Translation plugin (while the functionality worked perfectly) and the combination of the beta WPML…
    Thank you so much for your replies!
    While I could not reproduce the error with WPML version 3.02-a, I can confirm that it exists with version 3.1.4-b5.
    I get the error:
    TypeError: postEdit.$connect_translations_dialog.dialog is not a function
    If you can refer the WPML supporter you have been in contact with to this thread, I’m sure we can work it out.
    Hi Herre,
    even although I’m not a member of the wpml support team, I found this older support post that may help you – just found it after facing the very same js wpml related error:
    https://wpml.org/forums/topic/javascript-error-in-post-edit-js/
    Just add the lines given via pastebin to end of wpml plugin’s sitepress.php to include jquery-ui script again and the error should disappear – and should hopefully be fixed with another better tested wpml release.
    Best regards
    Stefan
