I am using Yoast Duplicate Post and WPML:

    1. Duplicate a page (e.g. ?About“)
    2. Change the title of the new page to ?Service“
    3. Puplish the new page
    4. Create translation with WPML

When I look at the new page in the original language, the slug looks as expected: /service/

When I look at the translation, the slug shows: /copy-of-about/

Please help! This can not be the way it is intended to work.
    Thank you very much!

    Hey @davidspeyer,

    Thank you for reaching out.

About step 4. Would you mind giving us the steps you take with WPML to create the translation? There are multiple ways of translating content with that plugin so I’m trying to get the full picture here. Thanks!

    Hey @jeroenrotty

Sorry, step 4 was not quite correct. I just saw that the translation is also duplicated.

So after I have changed the title and published the new page, I click on the “update icon” of WPML in the editor. In the translation editor, I translate the newly assigned title and click on “Complete”. When I then look at the translated page in the frontend, the slug has not been adjusted. The slug should actually be adjusted according to the translated title.

I have already asked WPML support about this and they said that this is unfortunately the case and that you have to adjust the slug manually.

I don’t know if it’s Yoast or WPML or if the problem can’t be solved at all. Either way, I think it’s not user friendly and the incorrect slug can be easily overlooked in translation.

    Hey @wp_dsp,

Thank you for your elaborate reply. It is a fact that by default, the slug is copied over – same goes when you translate pages.

What you can try to do though, is uncheck the “slug” checkbox under Settings → Duplicate Post.
