    Hi Bianca,

    No, there were no changes to anything that would affect WPML. However, where did you previously store the WPML XML file? If you stored that in the Cookie Law Info plugin folder then the latest update would have overwritten that (standard WP functionality, not anything special that this plugin does). You should replace that XML file and it will work again. However note that modifying plugin files and folders is not recommended by WordPress.

    If that isn’t the issue please post your URL and a description of what you’re trying to do/what is happening. You might also want to contact WPML for support as I do not use WPML myself so am not an expert in how it works.

    Incidentally, official WPML compatibility is currently in development and should be available in the next few weeks (no promises on an exact time though).

    All the best,
    Richard

    This is the XML I’m referring to:

    <wpml-config>
    	<admin-texts>
            <key name="CookieLawInfo-0.9">
                <key name="notify_message" />
                <key name="button_1_text" />
                <key name="button_1_url" />
                <key name="button_2_text" />
                <key name="button_2_url" />
                <key name="showagain_text" />
        	</key>
    	</admin-texts>
    </wpml-config>

    Dear Richard,
    thanks a lot for your answer.
    I totally forgot about the workaroud I followed in the past (which is this: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/cookie-law-info-plugin-translation/)
    I realised it looking to an old backup.

    So: whe wpml.xml file you mentioned sholud work, right?
    If not in the plugin folder, where should it put it?

    Thanks,
    Bianca

    Hi Bianca,

    Try it and see- add it to the folder “/wp-content/plugins/cookie-law-info/”. I’ve also asked the WPML team to confirm. You won’t break anything by trying. If it doesn’t seem to do anything try refreshing any caching software you might have (e.g. cloudflare, wp super cache, total cache, etc) and also refresh your browser window. If still nothing then that probably wasn’t the right location- try your theme folder instead. Again- worst case it won’t work and you can just remove the file.

    Remember- always take a backup of your files before making any changes! Be extremely careful deleting files.

    Let me know the results, hopefully it works in which case I can make the update available to everybody ??

    Cheers

    Hi- version 1.3 just released has the wpml.xml file as standard so you’re good to go ??

    I will be adding further WPML support soon which is allowing the [cookie_audit] shortcode table headings to be translatable. No release date planned but hopefully I can run this past the WPML team and get an official solution in the next couple of weeks

    Did you sign up to the beta yet? https://cookielawinfo.com/beta – be the first to try the new version!

    Cheers!

    Hi Richard,

    first of all congratulations on your work with this plugin, I don’t know how you keep up with developing it and all the support questions! Good on ya! ??

    I’ve just installed the latest version of your plugin (which includes the wpml.xml file) on a local WP site (via MAMP) that uses WPML. The site has 2 languages (Italian as default language and German), but the language for the strings is set to English, as suggested by WPML.

    After installing and activating your plugin, the cookie notice works fine but appears in English on both sites (or in whatever language the message is written in the cookie law info settings). I tried to use WPML and scan your plugin for strings, hoping it would find the original English message and allow me to translate it into Italian and German, but the usual option “view the strings that need translation” doesn’t appear.

    Besides, the scan shows that only 7 strings are found in your plugin and by creating a po. file I’ve seen that they’re not the ones that I need to translate:

    msgid "Add New Cookie Type"
    msgstr ""

    msgid "Edit Cookie Type"
    msgstr ""

    msgid "New Cookie Type"
    msgstr ""

    msgid "View Cookie Type"
    msgstr ""

    msgid "Search Cookies"
    msgstr ""

    msgid "Nothing found"
    msgstr ""

    msgid "Nothing found in Trash"
    msgstr ""

    The plugin works fine with WPML when it comes to adding/translating the single cookies to show within the table on the privacy page table, but I have no idea how I can translate the the Cookie Notice itself and the text for the buttons on the settings page?

    Thank you very much,
    Oriana

    Hi, this question is best answered by the WPML team so I suggest posting a message in their forum. I have added the wpml.xml file as per their guidelines but I don’t use WPML myself. Cheers

    Ok, will try that, thanks!

    Hi, I think I know the issue- the WPML filename was wrong and I’ve corrected that now. Should all be working. Cheers
