    Hi Overthere ??

We’re using WC on our German/English shop and stumbled upon an issue with “Paypal Payments”

The content of PPLs iframe is always shown in German even if the sites language is set to English.

I found a post on WPMLs forum which mentions this issue also but they’ve got no solution because PPLs code is injected via iframe (see https://wpml.org/de/forums/topic/checkout-page-deutsche-texte-auf-englischer-seite/)

Is there any way you can adress this e.g. via passing a language parameter to PPL or sth alike? I’d assume PPL does have a solution for this on their API ’cause multilanguage sites are really common nowadays.

    Thx in advance! ??

    Hello @ralf-r

Thank you for reaching out to us, we are here to help.

The language that is being used for the buttons is decided by PayPal on their server. Our plugin gathers the customer details on the website and sends them to the PayPal server (such as IP, OS, language settings, etc). The PayPal server then reviews these details and decides what the customer should be seeing. The outcome can be different for every device, user or browser, so you might want to try this on another device and see if you still get the same outcome.

Currently, there is no option to override this situation and force 1 language for these buttons, but we do have a feature request open to get this introduced. You can find some details on this GitHub issue, that we are working on for this purpose.

I will link this thread to our internal feature request for keeping you up-to-date if the thread allows us to still update it once the feature has been release.

Please let me know if you have any more questions regarding this situation.

    Kind regards,
    Joost

    Hello @ralf-r,

I just got notified that the language override option to change the language of PayPal button’s feature request was closed. This indicates that this function should be included in the next release. This should be release version 2.4.1 that should be released within 2 or 3 weeks. You can see all releases (including beta releases) here, where you can also read the items that were added and/or fixed.

    Kind regards,
    Joost
