I followed the link from the WordPress dashboard to purchase WP-Smushit Pro (obviously, by adding the word Pro, legally, it’s not WP-Smishit – smart!). WPMUDEV offered 90% discount if choose their servers for optimization and I only had to pay $4.45 a month or, something close to $58 a year. I followed the instructions and received the invoice where WPMUDEV charged me almost $600. It’s not a problem, because I’ll call AMEX and will immediately cancel this charge, but, guys, be careful with this company. They promise 24 hrs support, but never get back to you. They provide two email addresses to contact them and both are bouncing back. I can’t believe that such unethical behavior is possible in the open source community these days. They’re either a total scam, or 300% sloppy Joes, whatever it is, don’t deal with them.

    Hey there,

First of all, apologies for the issue you faced and thank you for posting this here. Generally anything regarding premium services need to be handled away from www.ads-software.com. That’s their policy rather than ours.

I’m happy to take a look though, and I have. I see David has been dealing with you regarding this matter, but I still wanted to take a moment to respond personally.

Occasionally with coupons the session expires for whatever reason and the discount is not applied. Where that happens we’re always happy to either refund the difference to what it should have been, or the total amount if that’s desired. Usually to refund the total amount our email guys just need to run it up the ladder which he did. We like to investigate to make sure there are no technical issues which might affects others, or in the rare cases someone uses everything on our service first.

With regards to emails bouncing, I’m not sure what happened there but we use Help Scout to manage our emails. The first one I see from you was at 1644, then 1739. David’s first response was then 1820, and then later that day he followed up at 2344 before he logged off. I think Help Scout might show those timestamps in my timezone.

Your full refund has been processed already, we use Stripe for credit cards, it should be back with you soon. Please note that this can take a couple of days.

I’m really sorry we were unable to turn this experience around for you, it’s really not the experience we aim to provide. As a way of apology, I left your account open for a month so that you can still use Smush if you wish to give it a shot.

    Have a great day.

WPMU dev support is some of the best, friendliest and most knowledgeable in the business. I’m a customer and have seen this consistently. They are far from a scam or unethical.
