Can someone tell me where I would enable the audio player under wordpress/options..can’t seem to find it anywhere.

Also..I’’ve installed the media player into my plugins folder. But I’m a little confused as to where I would create the folder to store all the mp3 files. The instructions say to put it in the ‘root’ folder Which one of these would be the ‘root’ folder:

    wp-includes, wp-content, wp-admin?

    Thank you

  • Wow. I didn’t even know we had one… Yes, please, can someone tell us all.

edit: scratch that. OP was just updated with more info… sigh…

wp-includes, wp-content, wp-admin are folders that pertain to your wordpress install. Not your root level.

root folder: where your website is located…

generally public_html (which you’ll see if you use FTP), depending on your hosting provider setup… unless I’m completely wrong, which I’m hoping I’m not ??

    stranger things have happened.

Is the audio files a plugin? If so, can you see it in the plugins page? is it activated?

this is not related to wordpress itself but to the addon you try to install… you will have to refer to the installation read-me, or the coder’s website for support…

Thanks Katgirl for your help…apologise for any confusion.

I had to extract the audio-player.php into my wordpress folders plugin folder..not into the audio-player folder. Very important.

It is now showing up on the wordpress plugin page. AM still having problems understanding where to create the mp3 file folder. From what I’m reading it has nothing to do with wordpress..it’s a folder I must create somewhere in my server stuff..right? Am going to look around there..wish me luck.

Sorry for my ignorance..but this is a first.

PS..Here is the plugin creator’s webpage…he’s answered a few questions for me already.

your root folder is probably the folder that has /wordpress/ in it

So if you see folders like /wp-content/ then click up 1 level to the Parent Folder… Just create a new folder there called /mp3/ or /temp/

Hi Dg and thanks for answering..please bare with me.

I am with bluehost..the person who does this for me is not availabe s o I have to try and learn this on my own. For those in the know..it’s pretty straight forard stuff..for me..well. ‘Hehe and yea right’ is all I can manage just about now.

So in Bluehost..I’m looking under ‘Site Management’ and see this:
    Email Manager
    FTP Manager
    File Manager
    PageWizard

I’m thinking this root folder should be under ‘file manager’

Is the folder actually named ‘root”‘ if so I am not seeing it.

I can understand moving up one folder as you said to do. It’s finding the start or ‘root’ folder that’ has me lost right now.

I don’t want to mess things up as I’m not the only one using this website.

Just to be sure..you said..I should click on wp-content (which I do see thankfully)..and should go up one folder again and creat the mp3 folder..is this right?

    Baby steps..baby steps.

    Thanks

I finally resolved this with much help from Martin Laine, creator of the very cool little Audio Player 1.2.2 plugin.

    Plugin can be found here:

Turns out my personal root folder was under ‘public_html in the file folder at our server.
