So I was trying to help a friend with his site migration.
The previous developer gave him a .wpress file 307MB.
I thought maybe decompressing and uploading the uploads folder via ftp it would make the whole content smaller and it kind of did, but then i was trying to find a way to generate a .wpress file with what i had left so i could upload that via the plugin, but i wasn′t able to find that and the original site was deleted, so tehre was no way for me to generate again a .wpress file with maybe just database and plugins.

I would suggest to create a .wpress compress tool, so people like me can generate .wpress files and restore websites without issues because the php config doesnt allow you to complete the operation

    Thank you for your suggestion.
There are files in the archive that have a strict order and naming and while compressing is available as an option, it will result in many broken archives and consecutively sites. That’s why we do not recommend this way.
Here is a link to the compressing library.

    I see.
Well the thing is that someone gave me the “backup” but it was quite heavy to upload it via the browser, so I thought that maybe removing the uploads would help, but then I didn’t find a way to compress it hahaha.
Anyways, I had to do it the old way, upload the the uploads folder via ftp, install all the plugins via the plugins page and restore the database via phpmyadmin.

    Thanks for your reply ??
