Yesterday I created Admin users for two different clients on two different websites. For both clients, the link to set their password presented them with an error when they tried to create a new password.

When the clients clicked the link they were sent from WordPress they were brought to a page to reset their password as usual. But when they try to reset it, they are brought back to the same page with the following error:

Error: Your password reset link appears to be invalid. Please request a new link below.

When we investigated, we found that disabling WPS Hide Login resolved this issue and the plugin is causing this error.

    Can you please help?

  • I’ve been dealing with this issue for quite a while, and I’ve seen several other folks bring it up as well. I was experimenting with it this morning, and it seems that the Password Reset process will only work correctly if the Hide Login settings use the default of /login. We were not using this URL, and have been having the issue you describe.

I tried about 6 or 7 other login URLs, and they all resulted in the error you’re having. But reverting the login URL back to /login fixes the password reset issue.

    Hello,

/login is the default slug created when the plugin is activated.

Did you refresh your browser cache after you switched login page slug ?

    Hi Maxime,

Yes, we regularly clear our browser and server caches. We did not have this issue before, this is a recent issue. We would prefer to not use /login as the slug as that defeats the purpose of the plugin for us. We like to use something that is a little less easy to guess. Is there a plugin update in the works to fix this issue?

    Hello,

We can’t replicate the issue you decribed.

We tried to create websites with random WPS Hide Login slugs but the “reset password link” always works.

Is whl_page line in your options table in your database is the same as the slug you set up in your wordpress dashboard ?

Which PHP version do you use ?

It seems like Cory (also in this thread) is having the same issue. See below for answers to your questions:

    1. Yes, whl_page has the same slug access in the option_name field in the Options table in both websites.

    2. We’re using PHP version 7.4 and WordPress version 5.8.1

    Hello,

WPS Hide Login had an update this morning.

Have you still this issue ?

I am still having the issue. I added a user before and after the plugin update and both times I saw the following error notification when I opened the password reset link:

Error: Your password reset link appears to be invalid. Please request a new link below.

    Hi there,

Are you working to fix this issue? We are still having problems with users setting a password using /access/ as the login URL. We are seeing the following error notification when we open the password reset link:

Error: Your password reset link appears to be invalid. Please request a new link below.

    Hello,

The last and only possible thing is a conflict with your theme.

Unfortunately, I haven’t any other idea with only the informations you gave to me…
