    If returning a custom meta description via the wpseo_metadesc filter. Will it output to the post even if Yoast itself does not have a meta description for that particular post?

    In other words Yoast believes there is no meta description or description template configured for a post. Will Yoast go ahead and output what is returned from the wpseo_metadesc filter anyway?

    The wpseo_metadesc filter will set the meta description tag to whatever string is returned by the filter (no matter whether a meta description has been provided in the Yoast metabox for a given post).
