This is where navigation background is set:

#nav ul.nav-menu, nav div > ul {
    background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #EEEEEE;
    display: inline-block;
    margin: 0 10px;
    position: relative;
    width: 940px;
}

Just change value #EEEEEE; for something else.
