• Hi there
we added a block with a Shortcode from WPSP to our static homepag. It is meant to show the two newest blog posts in two columns.
In the settings we limited the post to two. But no matter what number we limited it to, it shows always all four posts in the end. Is there something else we should adjust to make it work?

    How can we fix this?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi there,

I’m not sure I see what you mean.

I’ve checked the site you’ve linked and I only see 2 posts as shown here – https://share.getcloudapp.com/d5uAlXJk

Perhaps you’ve sorted this out already? Let us know.

A okay, I see: No, even on the Screenshot there are four posts. The two newest one are only test posts, that is why they only have a headline and no text. I added now some pictures to the test posts now. So maybe it’s better to understand, what I meant.

    Ah my bad.

That’s right. The first 2 don’t have excerpts and images, only title.

Can you share the current settings of this WPSP list?

Also, can you try disabling all plugins except WPSP to check if its a plugin conflict?

It’ll be helpful to disable child themes with functions.php containing php snippets as well to make sure it’s not a pre_get_posts conflict.

    Let us know.

Ok, so the setting is right now (I tried to translate it, because the settings on our page are in German:

    – taxonomy: /
    – posts per page: 2

    columns:
    – columns: 2
    – grid: 3em

    pictures:
    – pictures: yes (check)
    – width: /
    – height: /
    – orientation: centered
    – placed above title

    content:
    – type: abstract
    – length: 22
    – title: yes (check)
    – title: element: h3
    – read on: “Weiterlesen”
    – button: sp-button

    meta:
    – no checks on author, date, terms, comments

    further settings:
    – author id: /
    – no check on exclude current posts
    – post ids: /
    – exclude post ids: /
    – exclude sticky posts: /
    – offset: /
    – sort sequence: descending
    – sorted by: date
    – status:published
    – meta key: /
    – meta value: /

In the mean time we also disabled all other plugins and the child theme, but that did not make a difference (right now everything is already activated again).

@ejcabquina I’ve deleted your offer to login to your user’s site. I’m am 100% sure you mean well but please never ask for credentials on these forums.

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/guidelines/#the-bad-stuff

Now for the why: The internet is a wonderful place full of very nice people and a few very bad ones. I’m sure everyone here is very nice however, by giving some ones keys to your house you are trusting they wont steal anything. Likewise the person who takes the keys is now responsible for the house FOREVER.

If something was to go wrong, then you the author may well legally become liable for damages, which they would not normally have been as their software is provided without warranty.

Please be aware that repeatedly asking for credentials will result in us escalating this to the plugins team.

It’s never necessary to do that. Here’s why.

There are many ways to get information you need and accessing the user’s site is not one of them. That’s going too far.

    You get the idea.

Volunteer support is not easy. But these forums need to a safe place for all users, experienced or new. Accessing their system that way is a short cut that will get you into real trouble in these forums.

@ejcabquina Please don’t offer to send or post logon credentials on these forums:

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/guidelines#the-bad-stuff

You can contact the author on their own site and, once there, the discussion is between the two of you. However, it is not OK to enter or send site credentials on these forums. We don’t want to encourage others (who are less reputable) to do similar things. It’s a fine line, but one that we need to enforce. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Ah that’s right.

Thank you for reminding @sterndata. Appreciate it! ??

@julianane Can you contact us to through our contact page? Thank you.
