Wrapping inside a website’s overall template

  • I’ve been using Blogger since 2001. My blog is an FTP Blog, so I use blogger.com to post but host everything myself on my own servers as just one part of my website. My blog uses a simple php include call to my website’s overall header and footer which wrap around the blog as a consistent theme (link). I don’t like to duplicate the header and footer code in the blog’s custom header and footer (maintained on blogger.com).

    My questions are simple…
    1) How easy is it for me to use my own header and footer via a simple php include call?
    2) If I auto-update my WordPress blog, will that screw up anything I’ve customized to make my template work within my site’s theme?
