• Hi all!

I’m a WP Virgin, I just installed it tonight. ?? I love it so far, but I am getting really scared of trying to wrap my template around it. I don’t even know where to start. I don’t know if it would be easier to work from an existing template and try to figure out how to put my template into it, or if I should just start from scratch. Any suggestions? I’m no PHP whiz, but other than that I know what I’m doing. I’m thinking my template might be a bit complicated for WP? I’m not sure. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Have you been to the Codex? Perhaps the Blog Design and Layout section would be a good place to start, especially “The Loop“. You don’t necessarily need to know PHP, but rather know where to insert the code. Once you get that working, it should be a matter of styling with CSS.

    Best of luck to you!

Hi btvillarin, thanks for your quick reply!

I did do some reading on Codex, it was helpful it telling me what files do what and about the different query pages and stuff. I made a list of what I’ll need for my template; pretty much all of them; and now I’m just trying to get my head around what references what… maybe I’m too tired to do this right now, haha! My brain just isn’t doing what I want it to do. Oh well, better luck tomorrow I hope. Thanks again!
